Do you think a new technology is always a good thing? by N.Li
We are always moving forward, improving non-stop, trying to make our lives better. Alexander Graham Bell had invented the world's first telephone, if not because of him, we would still be sending letters, which will take a long time for the other end to receive; if not for Sir Alexander Fleming, famous for his discovery of penicillin and lysozyme, who revolutionized medicine and improved the whole medical world, we will be still suffering from simple diseases, such as flu; if Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb, we would be lighting candles every night, carrying candles through dark corridors. For centuries, our society had been advancing, making our lives more and more convenient, but is new technology 100% good? Does it bring us any harm?
Everyday things around us have been improving from how they were when they were first invented, thanks to new technology, but have you realized how people have changed throughout the years? Nowadays, people can just type in a few numbers and solve a difficult mathematical problem within half a minute, but in the past people solve mathematical problems by calculating layer and layer until they can find the answer. We don't need phone books or recite phone numbers if you call other people. We can just type the person's name into your smartphone's contact list, or even say the name to mobile knowledge navigator, such as the well-known one from iPhone-Siri, and you can find his/her number right away. Therefore, new technology had made people even more lazy since life is a lot more convenient.
New technology has improved our lives, helping us advance further, reaching our goals, even though it had changed people's attitude. I believe an old saying that had been told generation to generation, "Nobody and nothing is perfect." Just like how the simple, but complicated quote, new technology has advanced our lives in a good way, but it made people lazy. It has its bad side and its good side. I hope people will not just appreciate how technology helped us, but to reflect our attitude towards life by using them.
